About Terpsis Orchestra

Founded in Thessaloniki in February 2020, Terpsis Orchestra is a large ensemble consisting primarily of traditional instruments—qanuns, violins, ouds, santurs, ney flutes, accordions, guitars, lutes, percussion and voices. Its repertoire draws inspiration from the musical traditions of Greece, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans.

The orchestra is known for its rich, powerful sound and its contemporary approach to traditional repertoire, constantly seeking new artistic expressions. Over the years, Terpsis Orchestra has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Sofia Papazoglou, Haig Yazdjian and Dilek Koç, presenting concerts throughout Greece.

In 2022, the orchestra released its first album, Odos Smyrni: A Musical Tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe. A new album, Ego Eimai Prosfygaki (“I Am a Little Refugee”), featuring Haig Yazdjian, is scheduled for release soon.

About Antonis Apergis

Antonis Apergis is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger born in Nikaia, Greece, in 1963. He began studying guitar at a very young age and gradually expanded his musical practice to include recorder, oud, double bass, qanun, ney and fretless guitars.

Alongside his career as a performer, he has earned wide recognition for his work as a composer and arranger. He has collaborated with many leading figures of Greek folk and art music, released five albums of his own compositions and two albums as an oud soloist, and taught both electric guitar and Greek traditional music in conservatories and higher education institutions.

Today, he continues to perform and tour extensively in Greece and abroad.
