Anopolis World Music Festival meets τMET’s artists

Body

A co-production of the Department of Music Science & Art (UoM) and olipoli

For the third consecutive year, the historic venue of Agios Nikolaos Orfanos in Thessaloniki’s Upper Town will host the creative encounters of students from the Greek Traditional Music Department of the Department of Music Science & Art (University of Macedonia).

This year, for the first time, the event is organized as a collaboration between the university music community of the Department and the Anopolis World Music Festival, creating opportunities for emerging and promising musicians and artists studying traditional instruments in our city to present their work alongside professional musicians and cultural organizers.

The two-day programme consists of a sequence of performances in which one ensemble follows another, presenting diverse artistic approaches to both contemporary and historical musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean and Greece, as well as fresh interpretations of this repertoire in dialogue with the musical currents of our time.
