Terpsis Orchestra
Terpsis Orchestra is a large community orchestra based in Thessaloniki, bringing together singers and instrumentalists of diverse backgrounds, ages, and levels of experience.
Rooted in the musical traditions of Greece, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Balkans, the orchestra explores both traditional repertoire and contemporary musical creations inspired by these traditions. Through collective music-making, original arrangements, and large-scale performances, Terpsis Orchestra creates a space where learning, artistic expression, and collaboration coexist.
Open to voices, wind instruments, bowed and plucked strings, keyboards, and percussion, the orchestra welcomes anyone interested in participating in a shared musical experience, regardless of previous training or professional background.
The ensemble meets regularly throughout the year, combining full-orchestra rehearsals with sectional sessions led by experienced musicians and instrument coordinators. Its work culminates in concerts, recordings, and artistic productions presented in Thessaloniki and beyond.
Since its establishment, Terpsis Orchestra has collaborated with renowned artists of the contemporary Greek music scene, including Giannis Haroulis, Sokratis Malamas, Melina Kana, Sofia Papazoglou, Haig Yazdjian, Dilek Koç, Antonis Apergis, and Eisvoleas.
What defines Terpsis Orchestra is its powerful collective sound, its openness to experimentation, and its belief that music can bring together people from different backgrounds through a shared creative process.
