From 7 to 9 July, olipoli's space at the Cultural Neighborhood of the Municipality of Neapoli-Sykies will host Saxophonist’s Shed, a three-day workshop dedicated to the art and practice of the saxophone, led by saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist and composer James Wylie.
Through three afternoon sessions, participants will have the opportunity to explore sound production, technique, practice methods, improvisation, jazz, modal music and maqam traditions, engaging with approaches that can enrich their personal musical practice and artistic expression.
James Wylie’s artistic work moves between jazz, improvisation, microtonality and the musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean. His teaching approach combines a deep understanding of the instrument with creative exploration and collaborative music-making.
The workshop is open to participants of all levels and is especially recommended for intermediate and advanced saxophonists. Participants may attend one, two or all three workshop sessions.
